Emotional Swings?

It’s crazy! So many people are coming to me sharing their fear, frustration and confusion with the ups and downs of their emotions that have them feeling out of control, extremely sensitive, and losing their mind with excessive fear and worry.

The air is just so dense with relentless bouts of sickness, anxiety, depression, worry, hopelessness, fear, confusion, fuzziness, loneliness, emptiness and meaninglessness.

They are asking for help wondering WTH is going on???

Well, how can we not? Let’s for a second take a look at the current world we’re living in. We are constantly bombarded by negative news around the world over-sensationalizing terrorism, hate crimes, racism, gun violence, rigged voting, devastation and greed… and on and on.

And it doesn’t help that the planets are in retrograde. On top of all that, according to spaceweather.com, cosmic rays are intensifying, and the earth’s magnetic field is changing. Damn. The energies are bringing up ugly and uncomfortable stuff we’d rather not look at.

It’s like there’s nowhere to hide. The Universe is having a ginormous clear-out event. One minute there I was laughin’, high-fivin’ and high spirted, and then the next I just wanted to curl up in a ball.

Breathe…

“We are moving through this period of pain, darkness and depression aligned with an incredible light and a beautiful gift” ~ Marianne Williamson

We are going through a deep purge to heal, forgive, and release what isn’t our true nature which is love and light. Humanity is being freed from its shackles. And it is bringing much confusion, anger and pain.

The intense cosmic light showers are helping us let more light in to dissolve what we are not. A rapid awakening process is taking place guiding us back home to our true state which is joy, to our true nature which is love.

Everything is changing. Many are feeling lost and confused and in deep pain. Whatever does not serve us any longer has to go and that may include relationships, careeers, traditions, identity and emotions that we are hanging on to but are keeping us stuck in lower vibration.

But I thought we’ve cleared all that?

Well… there’s human evolution for you. And… we’re also releasing not just our own personal baggage but all of humanity’s. With all the energies we have been receiving, we are purging at a very deep level, personally and collectively, to shift into higher consciousness of love.

For those who are feeling like everything is going wrong and falling apart, here’s what I know. Resistance is futile. If you wall up in self protection, suffering only gets prolonged unnecessarily. Healing and transformation goes way faster if you don’t resist it.

And boy do I know about resistance. It took a ski accident for me to finally wake up and really look at my life, where I was unknowingly stuck in fear, victimhood and lack. I had no idea I was sleepwalking most of my life. Quite a rude awakening yet so very grateful for it.

Resisting change can adversely affect your health, relationships, finances and eat away your peace of mind.

Here’s some nuggets I’ve collected over the years that helped soften my stubborn ways, dissolve resistance and quickly get through what seems like a never-ending emotionally confronting energetic transmission and activation.

1. Self awareness is key. If you are feeling something is off, take a pause. Feel into what is making you uncomfortable. Try not to numb, suppress or deny the rising discomfort. Relax into it, don’t attach any meaning or make yourself wrong. Just lovingly observe and allow it to move through.

2. You can’t heal what you don’t feel.  The triggers are showing you where your thoughts, beliefs and actions are out of alignment. Repressed feelings come up because they are on their way out. Feel it. Don’t shut it down, breathe through it, and it will find its way out.

3. Forgive. Send love and compassion particularly to those who just love to push your buttons. Do this not for their sake but yours. Hint: unbeknownst to you, they are angels in disguise reflecting back to you denied and disowned parts of yourself longing to come back home.

4. Express gratitude for the gift of difficult emotions. It’s counter-intuitive but as you see the gift in the experience, you can easily emerge on the other side where peace, joy and freedom await.

5. Be resilient. Rather than giving in to your default negative emotion (fear, anger, worry), tap into what you’d rather create or experience, and focus on amplifying this vibration and then train your mind to collect evidence that support this more expansive energy.

6. Fear is physical, so scan where it is showing up in your body, listen and acknowledge its concerns. Release through journaling, or perhaps confiding to someone. Once you express it and call it out, fear loses power over you. Feel the fear, then do it anyway.

7. Honor your body. If it wants to rest, rest. If you want to be alone, honor that and spend time grounding in nature. If you are restless and can’t sleep, then follow the energy and get creative and take action. Flow with your natural rhythm. Do what you love and brings you joy.

8. Trust your heart and your inner guidance. Know that everything is divinely perfect. Don’t believe everything your mind tells you. It’s job is to keep you safe, so everytime you are walking into the unknown, it will convince you to retreat. Tune in to your heart and set your spirit free.

9. Vibrate higher. Fear is contagious, but so is unconditional love. Fulfill your destiny from the energy of love, trust, joy and allowing. Only by shifting ourselves can we be the light the world needs for greater peace, enlightenment and freedom.

Here’s to freedom, awakening and enlightenment. Take care of you. Namaste.

What I experienced from Money Breakthrough

I was just at my Business School’s, Thrive Academy‘s 3-day Money Breakthrough Event.  As a Strategic Interventionist who coach on wealth creation, emotional mastery and spiritual awakening, this is an event I look forward to the most.

Money breakthrough is more than just recognizing what limiting beliefs you have about money. It is going deeper and getting in alignment with your true nature and releasing from a cellular level what no longer serves you.

Thrive

Watching my business mentor, Jesse Koren, wield his mastery and facilitate transformation is such a treat. He delivers it with so much heart, and compassion while delicately maintaining and balancing the energy of the sensitive hearts in the room. I learn so much from him.

The breakthrough I personally experienced was manifold. I grew up watching my mom suffer and promised myself I will never be a doormat, a punching bag, nor rely on a man, any man for my safety and security. Hence I’d been wearing a superwoman cape.

Underneath the strong persona, however, is a lifelong pattern that I’ve written many times about, the false belief that “I am alone”. I’ve made tremendous strides identifying and interrupting this limiting pattern, but this time, I want to be rid of it once and for all.

I started out really engaged and fully participating at first. I loved how people welcomed me back after being gone for almost a year. After a while, however, after raising my hand the entire day and not called on, I felt my bubble burst. I felt a sense of defeat.

I was very present to an old thought pattern that said nobody was interested with what I had to say, that I was not that important, or I was not a favorite. For an aspiring international speaker, this is a setback, yes? I was aware my inner 5 year old kid was acting up.

The urge to have a tantrum and run to my room and slam the door was so strong. I don’t enjoy being somewhere I wasn’t wanted but I also recognize this is a pattern and my mind is making it up.

So I vacillated from being conscious to being unconscious. It was exhausting to watch myself split into two and constantly catch myself to reconnect back with the group. It’s time for major integration. Go beyond awareness to full embodiment that I am not alone.

Thrive

One of the exercises helped me tremendously. I was still confused at what just transpired onstage, was still processing, when we were asked to do a partner exercise. State Mastery is part of my training with Anthony Robbins Mastery University so I shifted on cue.

But what was neat was to notice on top of flipping on my inner switch was the ability to quickly drop down to my heart and silence the mind. This is a new muscle I’d been playing with since Europe and Hawaii. And a huge new insight I was excited about.

To feel in my body that I have full control, that I and only I can flip on or off my power switch, quickly drop down in my heart, and also notice a shift in my partner’s state in reaction to how I was being was huge. This is a very powerful tool to take back your power in any situation.

Picture this, in the face of adversity, or, when a person is scowling disapprovingly in front of you, do you back off and dim your light, or do you turn on your light so bright that he has no choice but to shift?

External sources cannot control you unless you decide it. You and only you have control over your inner switch. Really. Your only job is to manage your energy. Everything else will shift and right itself when you step into your light and raise your vibration.

I played with this in all the partner exercises, and it was empowering to see my partners shift state and light up as well. We all went beyond role playing. It was a heart to heart, soul to soul communication. One’s transformation also elevated and freed the other. It was powerful.

See, In Oneness Consciousness, everyone is another you. There is no other. We are all mirrors of each other’s light and shadows. I believe that every person who has made us suffer has done it for love whether or not they realize it.

Conversely, when we have hurt someone, we too have done it for love. I always say even Judas had a role in God’s greater plan in the human evolution to higher consciousness. It’s time to fully forgive yourself and reclaim your innocence.

At every moment, every experience is inviting us to look within and let go of past hurts and unforgiveness. Our complicated relationships and discontent are all signs pointing us to where we need healing and breakthroughs.

Towards the end, I did get called on stage to briefly share what I wanted to breakthrough. By then, I was a hot mess. I felt so raw and vulnerable exposing a part of me that got squashed each time I wore my superwoman cape.

And the love and support from everyone melted my resistance and the cape. The safe space allowed me to simply ask for the oneness and belonging I was craving for. No judgment. Just pure love. And it felt good to release the junk and step into a whole new way of being.

The 3-day event was simply amazing. And I am so thankful and so blessed for the experience of great leadership and mastery by Jesse and by the Love Consciousness that is the Thrive Community.

How to be an Entrepreneur and not be BROKE

Wow! Mixed feelings after putting together an event for Bill Walsh and Powerteam International. Now it’s the day after. I am filled with gratitude and also feel like a balloon slowly losing air.

Ahhhh. Decompressing. Need to empty out to create new space for new possibilities.

So here I am introspective as usual… taking time to process, integrate and celebrate all the learnings, breakthroughs and growing pains that hosting this event contributed to my life.

Are you doomed to be broke?

Since becoming self-employed in April, despite all the vigorous coaching training and certifications, even after all the immersive personal and spiritual development I’ve invested in, I share the biggest fear of most coaches and entrepreneurs I’ve coached: “Time is up, I need to get a job“.

So when an opportunity to host Entrepreneur Night in Minneapolis came up, I took it on without hesitation. My intention for myself and my community was to create opportunities, raise awareness and break free from fear, lack and separation.

It is now my intention in this blog to capture some highlights of the event, as well as share my own insights and breakthroughs in hopes that it will open your heart and mind and inspire you to keep going and fulfill what you came here to do.

Entrepreneur Night Host Tess Vergara

Key #1 An abundance in gratitude equals an abundance in life.

I start my day with gratitude.  And I am grateful to Joe White, who broke his rule for me of only flying west and south of Delaware, and Christine Sherbert of Powerteam International. What an amazing, dynamic team! Thanks for bringing your gifts and passion all the way to Minneapolis!!!

Key Speaker – Joe White

And to our kick-ass VIP panelists: Kim Julen of Findingyourfiji.com, Alissa Sunshine Coomer of Sunshine Fitness Centers and Ken Keacher of Strategiesbook.org. Thanks for the personal support, big hearts and willingness to inspire the community. You rocked my world.

Special thanks to Laura Strong, President of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce for the beautiful space, for thinking of everything and covering all the bases. You are amazing! Minneapolis folks, if you need a venue for your next event, check out The Metamorphosis Center.

And to everyone who made it and attended the event – THANK YOU! – for making it a fun and successful event. Your time and energy and your enthusiastic feedback made it all worthwhile. Thank you.

Key #2: Where there is no vision, people perish.

“What you need is a vision… a vision so strong it pulls you to achieve your dreams” – Bill Walsh, Powerteam International. (For a powerful visioning exercise, click here.)

And my goodness, is my vision insanely big and ambitious!

Setting up Entrepreneur Night was like my firewalk, my personal breakthrough to fully step into leadership role. My default programming is to work solo so teaming up, networking and expanding my reach are huge breakthroughs! Yey me.

Key #3: Dump the scarcity mindset. Raise your abundance thermostat.

One of the expert panelists last night shared her story about having a “welfare mindset“. I call mine “single mom mentality” which I blogged about on “I will Survive“. Both are examples of a very limiting and non-supportive mindset especially to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Do you ever wonder why lottery winners go broke again in 2 years? How about Donald Trump. Why is it he could bounce back, regain and even exceed the billions he lost? Check out rags to riches and together with me, step out of your comfort zone and join the 2% mindset club!

Key #4: Show those gremlins who’s boss!

My gremlins got activated while sending invites via emails and social media. It was saying all sorts of things like I was annoying, people are not interested, I’m crazy. Ya Ya Ya. No matter what your gremlins are thinking, say thank you and follow your heart anyway

I bought a selfie stick for my trip to Europe in lieu of bringing a tripod and boy oh boy did it come with gremlins to aggravate my already self-conscious self. My husband and kids teased me which .didn’t make it any easier. I promise. No one will get hurt during my travels in the name of a selfie.

Key #5 Stretch beyond your comfort zone

And Just when I thought the shaking and stuttering finally stopped when doing videos (see video #1), the selfie stick brought other things to the surface so I can finally release them.Trapped judgment and resistance is debilitating and eat away your power thus creating separation.

The selfie gremlin cost me 6 days to do a follow up video. The resulting video (see video 2) took me to a whole new level that had me feeling simultaneously naked and victorious, overwhelmed and excited. Gremlin said: “You are not cut out to be a speaker”. To which I added “Yet”.

Key #6: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ~ Jim Rohn

Joe White emphasized the importance of choosing friends and cutting off negative people. Not doing so may hinder your energy, vision and ultimate success. Look for like-minded friends who support you in your dream. Your network determines your net worth.

10ef5-10946669_333713826833711_24234059_n

The subject of friends hit a sore spot when none of my so called friends bothered to respond to my invitation. This can easily dissuade someone who is not deeply aligned with their higher vision. Don’t let fear of how other people view you or fear of loneliness discourage you. Keep going.

Key #7: Find your Authentic Voice and be true to it.

Marketing and promotion is particularly where I needed to breakthrough. And I did. One of the biggest lesson was sending out a cookie cutter email from a template I was given. When I read my own email the next day, my skin crawled. It sounded cold, salesy and nothing like me.

Glad it happened and was quickly reminded that “connection matters more than anything” ~Jesse Koren. Integrity, authenticity and connection are all necessary ingredients to effectively communicate your message. Glad I quickly recovered and changed my approach resulting in record high sign ups.

Key #8 Own Your Value and Fall In Love with Sales

I used to say I’d rather scrub toilet than sell. That was my old limiting self talk. I just hate being sold to. I hated sales and marketing so much that I went to Business School of Heartselling, Thrive Academy, so I don’t sound like one of ’em pushy, salesy and sleazy salespeople.

Dena's Blog: I HATE sales but I LOVE my business - 4 tips to turn sales into sharing.

i knew that if I didn’t learn to embrace sales and marketing, I’d go broke and where would that leave me and my mission? If you have resistance to a sales pitch, recognize that you may be unknowingly projecting your own resistance to selling thereby repelling sales and clients.

Key #9 Selling is a service.

When you come from a place of truly owning the value of your gifts, talent and contribution, it’s no longer selling. It’s service. When you can confidently say the value of your product or service is 3x, 5x, 10x more than the investment, you will stop shying away from asking for the sale.

And this is why I jumped at the opportunity to partner with Bill Walsh to host Entrepreneur Night as well as frequently promote Tony Robbins and other mentors because the work they do is phenomenal and transformational. I know the value of what they do because it changed my life.

Key #10 Money is Energy

Tho this didn’t come up at the event, this is an important concept I impress upon my clients.

“Money is evil”, “wanting too much means you are greedy”, “money and spirituality do not mix”, “those who have money scam people”, “you must work hard for your money”, “there is never enough to go around”.  What limiting beliefs keep you broke?

Many misunderstand money. Like everything in life it is just another form of energy exchange. It’s your beliefs that can make or break your financial success. How you view money and the meaning you attach to it is what gets you in trouble and keep you broke. Money itself is neutral.

Key #11 Don’t fear failure; It’s part of success.

It was at Robert Kiyosaki’s key note speech at Peak Potential Guerrilla Business School that I realized I have been working so hard foolproofing my life, avoiding failure. His words still ring in my ears…. You haven’t failed enough! Cue Tony Robbins: “Hmmmm…. Something to think about!”

So here I am embracing failure. Eeeek. It’s uncomfortable to go against your familiar and automatic programming that you built to protect, prevent and keep you safe.

Robert Kiyosaki also said the world is full of smart, poor people. Ouch. I want to be smart AND rich! And if that statement turns you off, or triggers you, refer back to #10.

Key #12 Be an unstoppable force for good

Depending on where my client is at, I love facilitating an exercise where they can fully experience within themselves and know with absolute certainty and conviction that they are an unstoppable force for good.

It’s never about the money. Again, money is neutral, it has no value except what we attach to it. The value comes from what money helps you achieve. And for me to achieve my mission, I need to generate abundance and that is generated from within. Ask me how. That’s my expertise.

Key #13 Be Accountable, Get Coaching and Belong to a Mastermind.

This is a very important key that was stressed a few times last night. When you get stuck on the proverbial entrepreneurial hamster wheel, GET HELP!

Entrepreneurship can be very isolating at times and it’s hard to find like minded individuals. Create a network of entrepreneurs who you can trust, feel safe to be vulnerable with, and with whom you can share and access collective experience, knowledge and creativity.

Key #14 Self Love is Key

Push yourself hard but not too hard that you abandon and sabotage yourself. Self abandoning strategies may make you loads of money, but your health, relationships and your spirit will suffer and give you clues you’re still feeling bankrupt, unfulfilled and incomplete deep down inside.

Richness and abundance is not out there to get and strive for. It’s an inside job. And it’s waiting for you to activate it. You have a unique gift to share to the world. Follow your joy, listen to your desires, do what you love. Only with unconditional self love can you unlock true abundance.

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this blog post. I would love to hear your comments and feedback as well. Comment below or email me at tess@openheartmindcoaching.com and feel free to share.

Now I can go on my merry way to start my empty nesting celebration and laptop lifestyle.

Europe and Hawaii… watch out… here comes Tess with her selfie stick 🙂 🙂 🙂

On Money and Happiness

I agree with you. Money doesn’t buy happiness.

And, let me add this – no amount of money can define who you really are or measure your true worth.

So why this sudden obsession about money?

Because people’s unhealthy relationship with money is causing a lot of unhappiness and stress in their life whether or not they are aware of it.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not trying to convince you to amass wealth you don’t want or need.

All I am saying is… just become aware and really look at where your relationship with money is and how it is impacting the quality of your life: your well-being, relationships, growth and ability to give to others.

What have you denied yourself because you bought into the belief that money is _____ or “I can’t afford it”.

Money is not the be all and end all. And while there is no correlation between happiness and money, you gotta admit, BEING BROKE REALLY SUCKS. It limits your personal freedom, cramps your lifestyle and creates unnecessary stress for you and the people you love.

My intention is to create awareness out there and empower you and many others to take back your power and wake up to what is truly possible when you heal your money wounds.

Life will be a lot more rewarding and fulfilling when you get clear what money is and what it is you want out of life.

Awaken Possibilities: Embrace the Feminine Power!

Has this ever happened to you?

You are totally “on fire” about a project, you obsess about it, you don’t sleep to get it done, and then you take on another project, and another, and next thing you know, you’re out of control and you don’t even know it?

You start feeling sluggish, you eat more to regain energy, too tired to exercise, then you feel heavy and lazy, then you look at your husband and you think he doesn’t think you’re attractive. Next thing, you’re questioning your marriage because it is missing a spark!

That was me! I shared with my coach that I am just not feeling it from my husband and the result of our session took me by surprise! I thought I got everything figured out. A lightbulb moment.

Hence, the birth of Awaken Possibilities: Embrace the Feminine Power. A 12-week email course on extreme self care to discover, cultivate and fully express the authentic you! Absolutely free of charge. My gift to you for the Holidays! It starts January 1st, 2014!

Confessions of a Procrastinator

Ok… So I joked about putting this off. And sure enough, I have a legitimate excuse since I just started a month-long intensive week-end training. Judging by yesterday’s training, it will be another grueling 12-hour training today. But here I am about to show procrastination it no longer has power over me.

“Procrastination is like a credit card: it’s a lot fun until you get the bill.” ~ Christopher Parker

One of the fun ways for me to procrastinate was to surf online and get lost on reading anything inspirational and empowering. It had gotten so bad that I even did EFT to quit Facebook because clearly, I was not getting things done and was self-sabotaging.

In my resolve to beat procrastination out of my system, I got curious about mind mastery which led me to meditation to EFT to self hypnosis to spiritual work to healing code to quantum physics to awakening coaching training then to Anthony Robbins…. to UPW… and now here I am, blogging about procrastination!

“If it weren’t for the last minute, I wouldn’t get anything done.” ~Author Unknown

As a recovering workaholic, one of the things I discovered was that I was addicted to the adrenaline rush of doing stuff at the last minute. I took great pride in juggling and multi-tasking and was convinced I did my best work under pressure. Except, I was unaware I was already running on fumes. So when I had a meltdown at work that broke my pattern, it took me a while to connect to the will and the emotions to drive me back to be productive again.

One other thing I noticed, when overwhelmed, exhausted and uninspired, I felt resentful and imposed upon. And because I was losing control and significance, and a true rebel that I am, I hang on to the illusion of control by holding my tasks hostage. They got done when I was good and ready and not a minute sooner.

“Procrastination is my sin. It brings me naught but sorrow. I know that I should stop it. In fact, I will – tomorrow!” ~Gloria Pitzer

Knowing I should stop was a struggle to follow through and pure hell. The problem with awareness was… I was aware I was hurting myself on so many levels… painfully aware I was out of integrity therefore judging myself rather harshly. It seemed counter-intuitive to find myself even farther away than when I first got started researching on avoidance behavior. I was at a loss.

Finally, one day, I said enough! I was not making any progress so I gave up and simply surrendered. On hindsight, this allowed me to relax the resistance and just let it be. I let go of my obsessive and controlling nature and honored a quieter, calmer, more certain and joyous part of me to take over.

It took a lot of practice, I couldn’t have done it without my mentors and coaches, but I finally learned to reframe my thoughts and put my attention where my intention is.

When I am not obsessing, when I can be fully present, when I am not wrought with worries and fear, when I can connect with my intention, vision and purpose, I create new possibilities and make things happen – not from a sense of duty or obligation – but from a higher source – a free flowing of energy full of passion and desire that is unstoppable!

“Until you value yourself, you will not value your time.
Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.” ~ M. Scott Peck

It’s usually when we are in doubt or in fear that we tend to procrastinate. We put things off because we are looking for a distraction to avoid dealing with the real issue. It could be stress, anxiety, overwhelm, trying to make it perfect, rebellion, fear, boredom, distraction or preoccupation with personal problems. What about you? At what point do you notice yourself procrastinating?

Procrastination is a vicious cycle and is just another way of abusing ourselves. It eats away one’s confidence and trust in self and adds even more to an already existing pile of worries, stress and frustration. It inadvertently invites failure in therefore diminishing one’s pride in performance and integrity resulting in feelings of shame, guilt and victimhood.

When tempted to procrastinate, don’t be afraid to ask the question: Why am I putting this off? Am I just being lazy and irresponsible? Do I need help? Do I need a break? Do I need a new mindset? Do I need a new strategy? What do I really want?

Instead of shoulding yourself, connect with the goals, wants and needs, and ask why it is imperative to get it done. If it is no longer important, do not be afraid to scratch it off your list! If it is no longer aligned to your goals and dreams, then make a decision! You can decide not to do it and take ownership of the consequences. Or, decide to postpone to a later time so it is not aggravating even more the current state of overwhelm.

As far as new goals and new mindset, which to be brutally honest is where I currently sit at with this new intensive training I am in, this is where having a coach is crucial. I had a session with my coach yesterday to ask for help to break my thought pattern and help me manage my fears and frustrations.  Having my coach help break things down into manageable steps really helped with my level of comprehension and degree of comfort my mind can accept.

We are habits of creatures and we go on autopilot based on past experiences. The mind will always rationalize, justify and commiserate with you and defend your laziness or lack of effort. It will convince you that you are better off staying the same because it has no point of reference to what you are trying to accomplish. It wants you to go back to what is familiar, comfortable and safe.

Get a coach to breakthrough such resistance! One strategy session will propel you forward. A minimum of 90 days will deliver the results you want and desire in life.

Having a coach and like-minded community to lovingly support, believe, witness and cheer you on guarantees a long and lasting change.

Most importantly, stop and inquire within. Honor yourself enough to check in if this is still aligned with who you are becoming. We all have a need to grow. And when we unconsciously inhibit our growth, we get stuck. We get restless. And no matter how hard we try, until we allow that which that wants to be free to evolve, we get nowhere fast.

As far as the dishes on the sink, they get done when I am good and ready and not a minute sooner.  WINK!

To freedom.

Love, light and blessings to all.
